প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিগণ বিদেশে বাংলাদেশের দূত - ভূমিমন্ত্রী

(ঢাকা, সোমবার, ০৮ নভেম্বর ২০২১)  ভূমিমন্ত্রী প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের দেশের দূত হিসেবে উল্লেখ করে তাঁদের বাংলাদেশে বিনিয়োগে আহবান জানান। বিদেশী সহকর্মী, অংশীদার ও বন্ধুরেরও বাংলাদেশে বিনিয়োগে উৎসাহ দেওয়ার জন্যে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশীদের প্রতি আহবান জানান।

আজ, ০৮ নভেম্বর, ২০২১ তারিখ, সোমবার যুক্তরাজ্যের ম্যানচেস্টার শহরের ম্যানচেস্টার সেন্ট্রাল কনভেনশন কমপ্লেক্সে বিদেশী ও অনাবাসী বাংলাদেশী ব্যাবসায়ীদের উদ্দেশে ‘দ্য রাইজ অব বেঙ্গল টাইগার: ট্রেড এন্ড ইনভেস্টমেন্ট পটেনশিয়ালস ইন বাংলাদেশ’ (বাংলার বাঘের উদয় - বাংলাদেশে বাণিজ্য ও বিনিয়োগের সম্ভাবনা') শীর্ষক রোডশো-এ বাংলাদেশের পুঁজিবাজারের উপর যুক্তরাজ্যে অনুষ্ঠিত দ্বিতীয় বিনিয়োগ শীর্ষ সম্মেলনে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্য রাখছিলেন ভূমিমন্ত্রী সাইফুজ্জামান চৌধুরী।

এ সময় আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রীর বেসরকারি শিল্প ও বিনিয়োগ উপদেষ্টা সালমান ফজলুর রহমান (বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে), ম্যানচেস্টারের মেয়র অ্যান্ডি বার্নহ্যাম এবং পুঁজিবাজার নিয়ন্ত্রক সংস্থা বাংলাদেশ সিকিউরিটিজ অ্যান্ড এক্সচেঞ্জ কমিশনের (বিএসইসি) চেয়ারম্যান শিবলী রুবাইয়াত-উল-ইসলাম।

সাইফুজ্জামান চৌধুরী পুঁজিবাজারকে অর্থনীতির ভিত্তি এবং প্রত্যক্ষ বৈদেশিক বিনিয়োগকে অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধির জন্যে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উল্লেখ করে বলেন, বাংলাদেশ সরকার এই কারণে বিদেশী বিনিয়োগকারীদের অনেক ভালো প্রণোদনা দিচ্ছে।

কোভিড-১৯ বিশ্ব মহামারির এই সময়ে বাংলাদেশের অর্থনীতি সচল রাখতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার দৃঢ় নেতৃত্বের কথা বলার সময় ভূমিমন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশী উদ্যোক্তাদের উদ্যোমী এবং যোদ্ধা হিসেবেও উল্লেখ করেন। তিনি বলেন এসময় আমাদের জীবন ও জীবিকার মধ্যে সমন্বয় করতে হয়েছিল।

ভূমিমন্ত্রী উপস্থিত বিদেশী বিনিয়োগকারী ও প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশী বিনিয়োগকারীদের আরও জানান, আইএমএফ-এর উপাত্ত অনুযায়ী করোনা মহামারীকালীন বিশ্বের শীর্ষ পাঁচটি সহনশীল অর্থনীতির দেশের মধ্যে বাংলাদেশ একটি। বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধে সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য সাইফুজ্জামান চৌধুরী তাঁর বক্তব্যে যুক্তরাজ্য ও যুক্তরাজ্যের জনগণের প্রতি ধন্যবাদ ও কৃতজ্ঞতা জ্ঞাপন করেন।

বাংলাদেশের অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধি অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক উল্লেখ করে বিনিয়োগ উপদেষ্টা বলেন, প্রতিটি নাগরিক যাতে অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধির সুফল পায় সেদিকে প্রধানমন্ত্রী সবসময় লক্ষ্য রাখেন।

বাংলাদেশের পুঁজিবাজার উন্নয়নে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশী ও বিদেশী, বিশেষত যুক্তরাজ্যের বিনিয়োগকারীদের কাছে বাংলাদেশের পুঁজিবাজারে বিনিয়োগ সম্ভাবনা উপস্থাপনার লক্ষ্যে বাংলাদেশ সিকিউরিটি অ্যান্ড এক্সচেঞ্জ কমিশন (বিএসইসি) এই রোড শো আয়োজন করে।

বিশ্বব্যাপী বাংলাদেশের মূলধন বাজার এবং বাণিজ্যে বিনিয়োগের সুযোগ প্রদর্শন এবং বিদেশী ও অনাবাসী বাংলাদেশি বিনিয়োগকারীদের বাংলাদেশে বিনিয়োগের জন্য আকৃষ্ট করার জন্য বিএসইসি এই রোডশো সিরিজ আয়োজন করছে। এই বছরের শুরুতে দুবাই এবং মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ৪টি প্রধান শহর, সুইজারল্যান্ডের ২টি শহরে সফলভাবে রোড-শো সমাপ্তির পর, বিএসইসি এখন যুক্তরাজ্যের লন্ডন এবং ম্যানচেস্টারে রোড-শো পরিচালনা করল। উল্লেখ্য, গত ৪ নভেম্বর ২০২১ তারিখ লন্ডনে অনুষ্ঠিত রোডশো উদ্বোধন করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা।

সম্মেলনে অনাবাসী বাংলাদেশি এবং বিদেশী প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক এবং স্বতন্ত্র বিনিয়োগকারী এবং ব্যবসায়ী নেতারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। বাংলাদেশের উচ্চ পর্যায়ের প্রতিনিধি দল তাঁদের সাথে আলোচনা ও মতবিনিময় করেছে এবং বাংলাদেশে শক্তিশালী অর্থনৈতিক বৃদ্ধি এবং বিনিয়োগের সম্ভাবনা প্রদর্শন করেছেন; বিশেষ করে সংস্কারকৃত পুঁজিবাজারে বিপুল সুযোগ এবং বিনিয়োগকে সহজতর করার জন্য অবকাঠামোগত উন্নয়ন ব্যাপারে তাঁরা আলোকপাত করেন।

অভ্যন্তরীণ সম্পদ বিভাগের সিনিয়র সচিব এবং জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ডের (এনবিআর) চেয়ারম্যান আবু হেনা মোঃ রহমাতুল মুনিম, বাংলাদেশ বিনিয়োগ উন্নয়ন কর্তৃপক্ষ (বিডা)-এর চেয়ারম্যান মোঃ সিরাজুল ইসলাম এবং ঢাকা স্টক এক্সচেঞ্জের (ডিএসই) চেয়ারম্যান মোঃ ইউনুসুর রহমান এবং বেসরকারি খাতের নেতৃবৃন্দ শীর্ষ সম্মেলনে অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে অংশ নেন।

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury referred the expatriate Bangladeshis as ambassadors of the country abroad and called upon them to invest in Bangladesh. He also appealed to the expatriate Bangladeshis to encourage their foreign colleagues, partners, and friends to invest in Bangladesh.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury was addressing to foreign and non-resident Bangladeshi businessmen as the chief guest at the second investment summit on ‘Bangladesh Capital Markets’ of a roadshow with the theme ‘The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Trade and Investment Potentials in Bangladesh’ today, Monday, November 08, 2021, at the Manchester Central Convention Complex in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Saying the capital market is the backbone of the economy and Foreign Direct Investment is imperative to economic growth, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury informed that for that reason government of Bangladesh is giving lots of excellent incentives to foreign investors.

Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the PM Salman Fazlur Rahman (as special guest), Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham, and Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam were also present at the event.

Speaking about the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh leadership in keeping the Bangladeshi economy moving through during this Covid-19 crisis, the land minister also mentioned Bangladeshi entrepreneurs as resilient and fighters. He said, during that time, we had to make a balance between life and livelihoods.

Land Minister also informed foreign investors and expatriate Bangladeshi investors that Bangladesh has been one of the top five resilient economies in the world during the coronavirus pandemic, according to the IMF. In his speech, the he has expressed his gratitude to the United Kingdom and the people of the United Kingdom for extending a helping hand during the liberation war of Bangladesh.

Mentioning that the economic growth of Bangladesh is inclusive, the Investment Adviser said that the Prime Minister always pays attention so that every citizen gets benefits from economic growth.

This Roadshow has been organized by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) to showcase investment opportunities in the capital market of Bangladesh to expatriate Bangladeshi and foreign, especially British investors, in the development of the capital market of Bangladesh.

BSEC has been organizing this series of roadshows for a year to demonstrate Bangladesh Capital Markets and Trade & Investment opportunities globally and to attract global investors and NRBs to invest in Bangladesh. After successful completion in Dubai and 4 major cities in the USA, 2 cities in Switzerland earlier this year, BSEC has conducted shows in London and Manchester in the UK. It is to be noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Roadshow held in London on November 4, 2021.

The summit was attended by investors and business leaders of both Non-resident Bangladeshis and foreign institutional and individual investors. Bangladeshi high-level delegation team discussed and exchanged opinions with them and showcased the robust economic growth and investment potentials of Bangladesh, especially the immense opportunities in the refurbished capital markets and the infrastructural development to facilitate investments.

Senior Secretary of Internal Resources Division & Chairman of National Board of Revenue Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Chairman Md. Sirazul Islam and Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited (DSE) Chairman MD Eunusur Rahman participated in the summit, along with private sector leaders, among others.
